Scaife is world balloon champ, again
Hot air ballooning might not be defined as a sport in the usual sense of the word but a world champ needs skills and fitness like any other.
Nicola Scaife has successfully defended her Federation Aeronautique Internationale world women's hot air balloon champion title, winning for the second time.
NSW pilot Scaife has been competing in the championship in Birstonas, Lithuania, earlier this month, competing against 42 pilots from 20 countries.
A hot air balloon competition requires competitors to score points by undertaking a number of set tasks, which are predetermined by an event director before a flight.
Scaife was issued with her private pilot's certificate late 2007 and become women's world champion in 2014.
In November, she will be part of an Aussie team to compete in the 22nd world championship in Japan.
