Ironman Frodeno collects action award

Australia's nominated athletes were unlucky at the Laureus Sports Awards presented in Berlin yesterday, but we can "claim" one winner.

German ironman Jan Frodeno won the Action Sports category and he has strong links to Australia, competing in events here, including the 2015 Noosa Triathlon.

Married to Aussie champ triathlete Emma Snowsill who has won the Noosa event more than once, he is a regular visitor.

The couple both won gold medals in triathlon at the Beijing 2008 Olympics and Frodeno took out the incredibly gruelling Kona Ironman event in Hawaii last year.

The NZ AllBlacks took out the Laureus team award and their star Dan Carter the Comeback of the year award.
