Daicos brings Sportzstats back as an app
AFL legend Peter Daicos has resurrected his Sportzstats electronic counter concept as a “family app” with social media capabilities.
From the handheld product of five years back, the new app for iOS or Android smartphones and tablets, with a promotion offering the first 300 trial subscriptions from each sport free, for a limited time.
Daicos says believes kids benefit from exposure to team environments and is sure that by continuing sport throughout their formative years they can realise life-long qualities such as mateship, better focus and more determination.
And that his app might just help keep them playing. Users enter match data and notes, adding photos and videos, allowing parents, coaches and others to generate a statistical representation of a player’s match performance.
With location-based technology now commonplace, statistic have been aligned to the geographic location of the pitch as well as the game clock, “much like data from professional games”. Users are able to swap between information areas and players and change mode of data entry for a complete match analysis. Post-match, the app can aggregate all statistics collected and represent them in colour graphics.
Daicos says the report function also serves as a fun graphic to share with others in an easy-to-read format. “Enjoyment, interaction and overall continued improvement comes from people taking an interest in one another,” he says.
Currently netball, soccer, basketball and AFL are available, with more games to be added.
