Classic fires up for the NRL finals
Published: September 29, 2009Exuberant footy fans are testing the mettle of local manufacturer Classic Sportswear which has stepped up to the challenge and have been churning out 500 NRL Grand Final T-shirts per hour every 24 hours to meet demand.
Grand Finals tees are sold to retailers a couple of weeks before the grand final, with the identity of the two teams is still unknown. However, as the teams are decided, fan emotion moves to a new high.
Classic Sportswear sales manager Dave Dinning says, “Parramatta has a large fan base, but entering the Grand Final from eighth place on the ladder is the stuff of legends.
“That, together with what is virtually a state derby against the Storm who are entering their fourth straight grand final appearance is the force behind unprecedented supporter wear sales.”
The artwork and design process for the coveted Classic Grand Final tees starts weeks in advance, with art director Gen Melek keeping a very close eye on finals campaigners.
Classic has sold an unprecedented 12 months worth of the core range of Parramatta Eels supporter wear in just two weeks (which dropped into retailers in September), says Dinning.
Orders for Classic Premiers T-shirts have been flowing in fast. There is no sign of the Classic Sportswear team relaxing for the big game, with deliveries of the first batch of premier tees due for delivery within hours of the final siren, says David Dinning.
