Can’t get enough of it: Rebel taps World Cup fever

Rebel Sport’s World Cup based TV commercial has won a fan where it matters: “I can’t stop watching it,” managing director, Erica Berchtold says.

The new campaign to coincide with the 2014 FIFA World Cup features a group of footballers turning tricks.

The Umbro TrickStars are a troupe of young Melbourne-based freestyle footballers who perform a series of mind-blowing feats with a Brazuca World Cup soccer ball… and it’s all real.

The commercial – which also showcases Rebel’s international jersey range – was written and developed in-house and directed and produced by Sydney-based Conti Bros Films.

Rebel creative director Luke Brocklehurst said the concept gives a nod to the spiritual home of soccer and shines a light on the next generation of local football talent: “Freestyle football definitely commands attention so it was great to feature our range amidst such cool content and showcase some incredible Aussie talent at the same time.”

And Berchtold is sold too: “I can’t get enough of this campaign,” she says.

“It captures the spectacle of the World Cup and really embodies what the Rebel brand is all about – fun, innovation, energy and motivating people to achieve their goals.
