Berchtold and Bertrand to address conference

Many high profile speakers will address the ASGA / ASTN joint annual conference, next month.
The afternoon offering will include four break-out sessions covering a range of topics, such as off-shore manufacture,  growing sports participation, disruptive innovation to achieve sporting success and  the future of sports technology, with attendees having to make choices.
The conference theme ‘The Next Steps to Global Sports Innovation’, is a reflection of the opportunity Australia has to be one of the world leaders in both sports product innovation and sports digital innovation, says ASGA executive director Shannon Walker, as it brings together the sports technologies, sports brand and retailing and advanced sports manufacturing industries in Australia.
New technologies are changing the face of sport – whether it is innovations in protective wear, performance apparel, and equipment or wearable devices.
“In many instances, our sports retailers, distributors and wholesalers will be the main connection to the sports consumer market
for these product innovations,” Shannon Walker says.
The October 21 programme features many Australian and international thought leaders who will share their expertise, with international keynote speakers, Professor Jerry Engel and Steve Blank who are internationally-recognised US experts in innovation, entrepreneurship, and venture capital.
Other speakers include Rebel Sport’s Erica Berchtold, 2XU’s Kevin Roberts and  famous sailor John Bertrand.
The Australian Sporting Goods Association will hold its annual meeting immediately after the conference at Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne which is bookended by breakfast in The Mounting Yard from 7.30 am and followed by a drinks gathering in the Headquarters Tavern.
