Barbie doll joins netball as star

Netball Australia, in partnership with Mattel, is proud to unveil the Barbie Netball Star doll as the newest member of the netball team, making her debut on Monday when she hits shelves across the country.
Says Natball Australia’s chief exectuive. Kate Palmer, “We’re thrilled to announce Barbie as our latest recruit.”
It will be the first time that the iconic doll has chosen a sporting profession and Netball Australia forecasts a successful career as a shooter at Goal Attack.
Since Barbie’s creation in 1959, she has had more than 130 careers, represented more than 40 different nationalities and collaborated with more than 75 different fashion designers.
With one Barbie doll sold every three seconds somewhere in the world, Barbie remains the world’s most popular doll and a powerhouse brand among girls of all ages.
The Barbie Netball Star doll will be available from Netball Australia’s MyNetballShop and Netball’s state and territory member organisations.
